What is the difference between Plexiglas and Lucite?
Both Plexiglas and Lucite are brand names for acrylic material. Plexiglas is manufactured by Rohm & Haas Company. Lucite is manufactured by ICI Corporation.
What is Lexan?
Lexan is an unbreakable plastic material manufactured by General Electric. Polycarbonate is the generic name for Lexan.
How do I care for acrylic material?
Use a cleaner free of alcohol and ammonia to clean acrylic. Do not use any solvent-based cleaning fluids on acrylic. Solvents will cause acrylic to develop micro cracks over time called “crazing”. Always use a clean, soft cotton towel. Never use a paper towel on acrylic; it will scratch the material.
What size materials can Crystal-Like Plastics provide?
Crystal-Like Plastics & Fabrication can provide sheets from 1/32 to 4 inches thick, and rods and tubes from 1/8 to 18 inches in diameter. Sizes outside of these ranges may be available by special order.
What is used to bond acrylic material?
Special glues for bonding acrylic material are available from Crystal-Like Plastics & Fabrication. Super glue will not work.
What is the maximum bendable sheet thickness of plastic?
Crystal-Like Plastics & Fabrication can bend plastic up to 1 inch thick.
